Abstract
Terrorism and organized crime represent a major security threat to the entire world. States of the EU including the Czech Republic make efforts to fight against these illegal activities by creating strategies and new institutions focused on this issue as well as cooperate with other more experienced states. The European Union helps to improve the security situation in the EU and non- EU countries through foreign operations .
The first part of the thesis deals with the theoretical interpretation of terrorism and organized crime as well as the methodological basis and the current trends in these illegal activities. The second chapter is focused on the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU with an emphasis on terrorism and organized crime . This section describes the changes in the CFSP after ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon with its shortcomings. The end of the second chapter is devoted to the operations of the EU within Common Security and Defence Policy scope. The third chapter deals with the arrangements, strategies, instruments and institutions fights against terrorism and organized crime in the Czech Republic and the EU. The conclusion of this chapter is the comparison of terrorism and organized crime.
