Abstract

This thesis deals with the evaluation of burnout syndrome in general nurses and its prevention. The main aim is to analyse this syndrome in selected nurses and, based on the findings, to propose preventive measures for all departments, including specific suggestions for individual departments. Sub-objectives are also set, such as analysing the accessibility, use and frequency of prevention programmes, comparing the prevalence of burnout syndrome between different hospital departments and assessing the association with age, length of experience and educational attainment of nurses. The thesis is structured in two main parts: theoretical and application and verification. In the theoretical part, burnout syndrome is discussed in detail, including definition, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The application-verification part includes an analysis of the current state of burnout syndrome in selected nurses in hospital XY, interpretation of the survey results and suggestions for prevention of burnout syndrome in specific wards. This thesis is based on the literature and uses a variety of research methods, including analysis, synthesis, observation and questionnaire survey. The results of the thesis provide a comprehensive overview of burnout syndrome in general nurses at XY Hospital and provide recommendations for the prevention of this syndrome.
