Abstract

Uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) are used to smooth operation of relevant devices, which are dependent on electrical power supply. No provider of electricity can guarantee a continuous supply of electrical energy without voltage fluctuations. So many devices, especially computers, are quite sensitive to fluctuations and noise on the supply voltage and therefore they rely on the UPS that should compensate these undesired effects. This thesis deals with a fully automated test system for testing basic functionality of the UPS and also testing of its reactions to unpredictable fluctuations in the power network. IEC 62040-3 [4] deals with the UPS testing. This thesis is based on [4] only partly. Emphasis was put on testing UPS behavior under usual operating conditions.
