Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to describe one of the forms of capital, which together with the cultural and human capital has a specific character. It is the phenomenon of social capital. The thesis discusses some approaches to its definition, typology and measurement method. Main target of thesis is to evaluate the impact of social capital on specific characteristics of the EU countries labour market. The relationship between social capital and the labour market is included in many studies. Their results, which are listed in the paper, clearly indicate the positive impact of social capital on the status of individuals on the labour market and also on the economic performace. The thesis contains correlation analysis, by which is prove positive or negative relationship between different forms of social capital and specific characteristics of the labour market. This analysis reveals that television reduces the level of social capital, another evidence refers to institutional trust based on the general confidence. There has also been detected more than 90 % of causality between social capital in the form of trust and labour productivity. The thesis refers to social capital as one of many factors affecting the labour market.
