Abstract
The vast majority of areas in today's VUCA world, as well as the assessment of suppliers, are subject to certain requirements and above all trends. This dissertation thesis was self-generated during very dynamically changing periods, whether during the "covid" crisis or during the conflict in Ukraine and the associated extremely problematic times in the industry. The dissertation thesis aims to design a methodology for managing the resilience of suppliers in industrial supplier chain environments.
Based on the author's long experience and the experience of a number of businesses of different sizes, all sophisticated tools are perceived as impractical for normal application mainly to small and medium-sized companies. On top of that, the research of expert articles has shown that there are many address the theme of resilience of supplier chains as a whole. But it is significantly more difficult to find professional publications related to the evaluation and management of the resilience of suppliers.
The dissertation thesis will therefore not address the subject of the resilience of entire supplier chains but will focus on research into the resilience management of suppliers from a position of large industrial enterprise (customer). This dissertation thesis also does not want to, nor can it, address the resiliency of suppliers from a global perspective. The area that will be addressed is mainly Central Europe.
Following the main objective of this dissertation thesis, the following research activities were performed:
• Literature review focused on currently used approaches and concepts for supplier resilience management.
• Analysis of data and attitudes of specialists associated with the given area using a focus group.
• Preparation of a special questionnaire survey for a wider range of specialists, its implementation and evaluation of the information obtained.
• Proposal of a methodology that can be used to increase the resilience of suppliers, including its verification in practice.
