Abstract

This thesis deals with oil production and impact of unconventional oil production on its prices. The first part is focused on oil basics, explains its history, describes current extraction methods and summarizes state of the world oil reserves. The next part gives an account of unconventional oil, methods and technology of contemporary unconventional oil production. History of oil price trends i shown in wider context, for example politics, conflicts and economic events. The last section analyzes impact of unconventional oil boom on oil prices in recent years.
