Abstract
For the contemporary world the connection between people through a variety of communication devices, wireless networks and cloud solutions is becoming more characteristic. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a relatively new phenomenon whose rapid development has been involved in many areas of daily life. The rapid development based on existing infrastructure, transmission technologies and standards presents several problems and risks, particularly in the security area. This set of questions poses a challenge for developers, companies and standardization organizations to create a suitable and practically applicable security solutions.
The central topic of this work is to design safety measures and create new concept for the IoT. It identifies security risks and provides a security solutions that might streamline, strengthen and establish safety standards in this area in the future. The starting point is the evaluation of the current reference communication model and the aspects of its deployment in the IoT. On this basis, a substantial modification in the layers of the model is proposed in the form of a so-called "security layer," which will integrate security functions of the other layers. This enables a centralization of functions and the management of all security mechanisms, the possibilities for their development and modifications independently of other transmission mechanisms. Consequently, the other layers can perform their specific functions and do not have to be "burdened" with solving the security problems.
