Abstract

Theoretical and practical section is part of diploma work. In theoretical part I focus on impact of gas in melted steel, methods and mechanism of desoxidation. Influence of oxygen activity on issues of gas defects in steel castings is included. In practical part I focuse on current methods of desoxidation in foundry Vítkovické slévárny spol. s r. o. with use of electric mid-frequency induction furnace. Dependance of oxygen activity on chosen factors and its impact on quality of steel is part of this work. I also focus on description of defect castings and suggestion of removing the reason of defect.
