Abstract
This thesis focuses on the analysis of the operation of a degassing station at the Vodní jáma Žofie site under conditions of reduced methane concentration in the extracted gas mixture, with a minimum methane content of 20% CH₄. The evaluation is based on long-term operational data obtained from the monitoring and control system as well as from operational records. The analysis examines key operational parameters, particularly methane and oxygen concentrations, the volume of extracted gas, and the influence of barometric pressure on the intensity of degassing.
An important part of the thesis is the assessment of operational safety under reduced methane concentration conditions, which are permitted based on a granted exemption. The results confirm that, despite fluctuations in operational parameters, safe conditions with respect to the formation of an explosive atmosphere are maintained.
Based on the analysis of long-term trends in gas production from the mine massif, a gradual decline in degassing sources has been identified, reflected in both decreasing gas volumes and methane concentration. In response to these findings, operational measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the degassing station are proposed, with a primary focus on reducing energy consumption.
The main proposed measure is the replacement of the existing vacuum pump system with a rotary blower, which enables more efficient operation under variable flow conditions. The proposal also includes an approximate calculation of energy and financial savings. The results indicate that the modernization can reduce electricity consumption by approximately 17%; however, from an economic perspective, it represents a long-term investment with extended payback.
The proposed solution is therefore evaluated primarily as a technical and safety measure that contributes to stable and sustainable long-term operation of the degassing station under conditions of declining gas production.
