Abstract
The goal of the presented bachelor thesis is to describe the topic of electric discharges, and to experimentally verify the validity of Paschen's law. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the theoretical description of discharges in gases, their creation and behaviour. Among other things, the properties and behavior of gases from the point of view of electric current conduction are presented, the homogeneous field is characterized, the topic of ionization and types of electric discharges are discussed. The conclusion of this part of the bachelor thesis is devoted to Paschen's law and its theoretical dependence on temperature. The second part is focused on the practical verification of the relation of breakdown voltage to the product of pressure and electrode distance. The measurement results including the constructed Paschen curves for the air are analysed and compared with the theory in the conclusion of the thesis.
