Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to study the occurrence of selected taxonomic groups of animals (Mollusca, Coleoptera, Hemiptera and Amphibia) in water-filled subsidence depressions. Different types of water-filled subsidence depressions, their function in the landscape and the possibilities of their utilization are treated here as well.
The main part of the study is its own research that took place in the period from April to September 2014. Ten sites were selected in the area of interest, so that they represented different stages of anthropogenic influence. On each side, there were selected three sampling points, where the monitoring of occurrence of selected taxonomic groups as well as the taking of samples for laboratory determination (if needed) took place. Abiotic factors (water and air temperature, exposure of surface water, the acidity of water and the redox potential) were measured at each side as well.
The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the history of coal mining within the study area and its influence on its landscape, as well as with the landscape restoration possibilities after the termination of mining works. This part also compares different methods of restoration and tries to choose the most suitable one.
The fact that sites which were left to spontaneous succession, are characterized by significantly higher species diversity than sites which has been reclaimed, is one of the key findings of this thesis.
