Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to design, analyze, and implement a solution that provides monitoring of
meteorological data and enables automatic control of the greenhouse indoor environment (irrigation,
supplemental lighting, and ventilation) using data from a local weather station and additional
sensors (air temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse, and soil moisture). The solution
performs local processing of meteorological data on a node located at the greenhouse and transfers
the data wirelessly to a remote node. Communication between the nodes is implemented using
LoRa technology in direct point-to-point (P2P) mode, while the remote node also provides a local
user interface and obtains additional meteorological information from an online service. Based on
measured values and the weather forecast, the system evaluates the current conditions and generates
control commands for the actuators for the next 24 hours, which are then sent back to the greenhouse
node. The design is guided by the requirement for off-grid operation and safe behavior in the event
of communication failure.
