Abstract

By volume forming optimal microstructure together with suitable mechanical properties without inner porosity and axial cracks can be reached. Nevertheless surface defects can occur. The reason can be residual stress caused by quick cooling. In the experiment simulation of radial forging on hydraulic press SMX-800 in Vítkovice Hammering works was examinated. The original ingot was V6EX polygon type of 730 mm diameter, made of low carbon 42CrMo4 steel. In addition to that, the aim of the work was to obtain tightness of numerical simulation used for prediction of deformation behavior with the actual result after forging. For this purpose was used a 3D scanner and after scanning was carried out a comparision. Aside from that aims, method of heating wrought ingot was simultaneously verificated.
