Abstract

The dissertation provides the view into the issues between two subjects- city engineering and preservation of monuments as the important instruments possessing the potentiality to influence the form of historical seats that are protected by the declaration of conservation areas and zones. The work follows the sameness and differences of attitude to the wider spectrum of question of which solutions has an enormous impact of form and preservation of historical character, and sustainable development of our cities and towns. During the processing it was proceeded from methods and methodology of preservation of monuments, through case studies of selected kinds of housing, forming of area support to regeneration of conservation areas and zones, i.e. to the possibilities of financial support to the renewal of individual elements of these units, and it was used both analytical and synthetical method, SWOT method, statistical methods, archival sources, and accessible official documents. The discussed issue is complemented with tables and graphs. The aim of the work was to find the contact points between city engineering and preservation of monuments, presentation of appropriateness or inappropriateness of newer and suggested construction in historical seats as the types improving or exacerbating the urban environment, and benefits of city engineering and preservation care for these seats as well. Next, it was done the research into the amount of financial support oriented on the regeneration of preservation areas and zones in selected programmes where there was checked even the concrete situation in Olomouc region as the representative sample that can be very well documented according to the trends of development. The dissertation can serve as the solution for next researching of individual areas of relations between city engineering and preservation of monuments, forming of conditions for new constructions, specification of rules for planar preservation protection, adjustment of amount of financial support needed for renewal of cultural monuments, also for people interested in given issues etc.
