Abstract
The main goal of this thesis is to evaluate the readiness of the Czech Republic to the transition to the common European currency and propose the date of the entry to the euro area. The evaluation is based on an analysis of the economic similarity of the Czech Republic with the euro area, convergence criteria and also it is based on Brown tests. The institutional readiness of the Czech Republic is also evaluated. Based on the evaluation, I’ve concluded, that Czech government should start access processes in 2018, in 2020 our country would enter ERM II and in 2022 Czech Republic would become the next member of the euro area.
