Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on satisfaction assessment of teachers at the selected vocational school. The author who is, at the same time, one of the teachers at that school, made use of internal data and interviews with colleagues to assess the satisfaction and survey the proposals heading for an improvement. The work has two parts, the theoretical and the practical. The theoretical part describes the methodology, theories and tools used for satisfaction assessment of the teachers. The practical part involves the analysis of the data provided by means of the questionnaires and interviews. There were two questionnaires distributed in 2022/2023. The first one was focused on the future development of the school. Out of this, the items relating to the satisfaction of teachers were chosen for the diploma thesis. The data showed that for a quarter of teachers the communication is essential and 15 % of teachers lacks the time for actual teaching and its preparation. Over 40 % of respondents mentioned that the classes are the key part and it is necessary to improve the school atmosphere and mutual collaboration. The other questionnaire “Map of School” was focused on the operation of the school, where 83 teachers took part. Majority of the answers were of the positive kind, 90 % of teachers expressed overall satisfaction with their jobs. The satisfaction related to the financial side if the work domineered. Nevertheless, some of the teachers expressed the need of better communication and lower administrative load. More than 90 % of teachers occasionally or often feel exhausted at work. Despite the fact, over 95 % of respondents enjoy going to work. Majority of the teachers appreciates the support of the management, but some of them would welcome higher recognition of their work. The work background is well evaluated, but almost a third of respondents is not satisfied with the system of administrative work. The atmosphere and the academic climate of the school were awarded by the average mark of 2.41. The questionnaire research was completed by interviews with 12 teachers, who confirmed the findings above. All the method showed that the teachers are satisfied at work, especially they are happy at work with the students and the financial rewarding. Based on these findings, the steps for satisfaction increase were proposed, as improvement of communication and decreasing of administrative load by means of employing the administrative personnel in the project activities. The author intends to use the data and analyses in the actual work life to improve the work conditions and satisfaction of the teachers at the school.
