Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the catalysis of Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of bulky ketone adamantan-2-one. The cyclic ketone has been oxidized by 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide. Reaction was catalyzed by modified clay (vermiculite) containing two different concentrations (5 % and 10 %) of tin(IV) in its structure. Collected samples of reaction mixture were analyzed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC-FID). Observed parameter were conversions of ketone going up to 43 % in Baeyer-Villiger reaction with almost 100% selectivity. The catalyst was further tested in reactions of adamantan-2-one with nucleophiles (hydrazine and hydroxylamine).
