Abstract

This tesis is dealing with the effect od applied load on hardness values of a different kinds of steels. Their behavior is described, in both macro and microscale. Introduction is describing the most used static methods of hardness measuring, including their macro and micro characteristics. Also types of indenters are described, including their shapes and usage, followed by an elasto-plastic behavior of materials under load. Next chapter is about instrumented indentation test, which a really good tool to explore the elasto-plastic behavior under load. Introduction is closed with basics of heat treatment and with the influence of heat treatment on final microstructure of materials. As the experimental part is concerned, the detailed proces of sample preparation is described, along with metalographical and scanning electron microscophy analysis. Next step is the evaluation of measured hardness values. In the final part, all important values are put into a overview table, along with a graphical expression of measured values. Graphical expression is then categorized into a few regions and important conclusions are described.
