Sledování vlivu skládky komunálního odpadu v obci Vernéřov na životní prostředí

Abstract

The work is focused on the evaluation of the influence of the former non-reclaimed and unrehabilitated municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill on the quality of surface, underground and landfill waters. The landfill is located in the village of Vernéřov, district of Cheb. The landfill is specific because it was not recultivated after the end of operation in accordance with the law. This makes it possible to assess whether self-cleaning processes will occur on their own, i.e. without human assistance. During the field survey, control samples of water and sediment were taken. The samples were analyzed in the VŠB-TUO laboratories. The obtained results were evaluated and compared with the old ones that were carried out in the past as part of long-term monitoring. Thanks to new analyses, the efficiency of self-cleaning (attenuation) processes can be evaluated. The results of chemical analyzes of water and sediments brought the finding that even after more than 20 years since the end of landfilling of MSW, the indicators did not drop to background values.
