Abstract

The thesis is focused on analysing the possibilities of managing the process refining steel with increased requirements for the degree of next thermo-mechanical processing (forming) - specifically for the steel cord. The first, the general reaction between slag and molten metal are described. It also describes the principle of a new phase. The next part is focused on non-metallic inclusions distribution in terms of their origin, chemical composition and especially formability. The last part, which forms the core of the work, deals with the analysis of literature. It discussed the issue of the use of thermodynamic models for the management of content of non-metallic inclusions. The following, examples of operational experiments during the secondary metallurgy refining of steel cord are analysed. The conclusion summarizes the literature findings and determines the critical parameters of the production, refining and casting processes influencing the final properties of cord steel.
