Abstract

This master´s thesis is the result of studies of terrestrial isopods in the landscape affected by mining and studies of their dependence on the way of further development of the country. The paper tries to determine the response of Isopoda to country negative impacted by mining, the following measures for the recovery of the country and also highlights the importance of these animals in the burdened landscape. The theoretical part acquaints with effects of mining on the environment and on the communities of individuals occurring in it. This part says about development of mining activities in the area of interest- in the village Dolní Suchá. The thesis describes and explains aspects of bioindication and explains method of bioindication via isopods (Isopoda). The most important part of the work is own research in a selected area. The paper makes summarisation of all natural characteristics of the study area, as well as specific descriptions of the researched sites, while there were three localities with varying post-mining development: locality with natural secondary succession, locality which underwent revitalisation and locality in human settlements Dolní Suchá. This study has shown the biggest abundance of individuals in the area with natural succession, revitalised site has proved to be very low in abundance and the site in the human settlements differed in species due to synanthropic effect. Overall, eight species of isopods were found with a strong dominance of markedly hydrophilic species Ligidium hypnorum.
