Abstract
This dissertation is a practical attempt to establish possible procedures for ensuring simultaneously an effective and an ecological solution to the complex question of heat supply for an industrial concern, in this specific case a hard coal mine which is subject to the Mining Act and further laws of the Republic of Poland.
The question of effective and ecological heat production in an industrial concern from technologically and financially accessible heat sources with focus on application of the current ecological norms in the environment of the Republic of Poland is an area which has not yet been explored in depth. Hence, this dissertation paper engages in the exploitation of primary energy sources for utilization of heat production which are effective and at the same time have a fundamental impact on ecology.
In the case of PG Silesia it concerns the replacement of burning hard coal by another mining-produced energy feedstock, methane, which is currently freely discharged into the atmosphere. There is a further option for complete utilization of methane analysed in the dissertation - the application of catalytic burning of mining gas with low methane content using the principle of organic Rankine cycle (ORC).
The results and implementation outcomes of the dissertation, set in the specific conditions of the hard coal mine PG SILESIA, are original and authentic. These outcomes are easily applicable in the mining industry and are first and foremost beneficial for the given concern. Furthermore, these results present an important contribution to the scientific study programme „Environmental engineering, branch Protection of Environment in Industry“.
The applied methods and research techniques of the dissertation guarantee an achievement of the targets which are explicitly formulated.
