Abstract
The primary objective of this bachelor’s thesis is to evaluate the financial health of a selected company operating in the wine production sector in the Czech Republic, utilizing established financial methods for the period 2020–2024. To provide a more comprehensive perspective on the firm’s performance, the analysis also incorporates benchmarking against both the industry average and direct competition.
The thesis is structured into five chapters. The first chapter serves as the introduction, while the fifth chapter comprises the conclusion, which includes a summary of the findings and results derived from the practical section.
The second chapter describes the methods of financial analysis, which subsequently serve as the theoretical framework for the practical application. First, the primary data sources are explained, and their absolute values are subjected to vertical and horizontal analysis. Furthermore, specific financial ratios examining profitability, liquidity, activity, financial stability, and indebtedness are detailed. The final part of this chapter is dedicated to spider analysis, pyramidal decompositions, and leverage effects.
The third chapter focuses on the characterization of the selected company. It contains basic information regarding the enterprise, its organizational structure, history, and its production focus on wine from Moravian vineyards.
The fourth chapter represents the core practical section of the thesis. Attention is primarily focused on the real-world application of the methodological procedures described in the theoretical part to the company's accounting data for the period 2022–2024. A vertical and horizontal analysis of the balance sheet and income statement is performed, followed by the calculation of financial ratios. The development of selected indicators is graphically represented and compared with the competition and industry standards. One subchapter is specifically focused on the pyramidal decomposition of return on equity (ROE) and variance analysis using the integral method. The chapter concludes with an analysis of operating, financial, and total leverage effects
