Abstract
This diploma paper „The Nominal and Real Convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU“ is focused on the process of economic convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU, and specifically to its nominal and real part. The thesis includes macroeconomic analysis of nominal and real convergence of the Czech Republic. The objective of this work is to charakterize the process of nominal and real convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU and to assess if the membership in the European Union supports the Czech Republic in convergence. The work is divided into the three primary chapters. The first section describes the theoretical starting points of economic growth and the process of economic convergence. Another chapter deals with the definition of real and nominal dimension of economic convergence. The last chapter analyzes the process of real and nominal convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU and uses these indicators real convergence: GDP per capita in purchasing power parities and real growth of GDP, and indicators representing the Maastricht convergence criteira and indicators CPL and ERDI in a case of nominal convergence.
