ŘEZNÍČEK, Jan. Influence of Oxygen Concentration on the Self-Ignition of Wood Chips. Diploma thesis, Ostrava: VŠB-TU Ostrava, 2019. 86 p.
This diploma thesis is focused on the influence of oxygen concentration on the process of self-ignition of wood chips. The theoretical part introduces factors that influence the self-ignition and describes problematics of self-ignition of cellulose-based materials with focus on the chemical phase of the process. The experimental part provides data evaluation of self-ignition experiments done under reduced oxygen conditions. The wood chips were monitored for the self-ignition time, the intensity of fumes generated during the heating and the production of selected gases. The results are shown individually for each measurement. At the end of the thesis, the results are discussed with focus on possible utilization of the acquired knowledge in the design of safety measures for wood chips storage.
