Abstract

The Bachelor’s Thesis deals with old ecological burden of Ostramo lagoons which represents a very complicated issue in the sphere of waste disposal. The objective was to compile the natural conditions of the interest locality of Ostramo lagoons, the current state of redevelopment, processing technology of the materials from the lagoons, characteristics of the extracted materials and their properties, and the characteristics of energy-utilizable materials. The lagoons contain about three hundred thousand tons of oil substances which have been accumulated there since the beginning of the twentieth century. These are predominantly wastes from the refining production of paraffin oil, heavy fuel oil, raw mineral oils and engine oil. The core of the lagoon disposal is a gradual extraction of the oil substances and their utilization in the production of special fuel mixture made by blending oil sludge with lime and coal. The process is finished by fluidized bed combustion. The complete extraction of the lagoons will have been implemented by 2010 and the locality should be reclaimed by 2015.
