Abstract
This paper investigates property investments as a way of allocation of savings in order to diversify and valorise it effectively. Four property investments are considered; real estate, commercial & agricultural land, forestry and groundwater. After introducing the theory of consumer behaviour and the investments mentioned a quantitative research with a sample of 305 respondents was conducted, which demonstrated several attributes. First, people do not generally use properties as a way of effective diversification and valorisation of their savings. Second, Czech and Slovak consumers are more concerned in working with savings than British. Another finding of the research is that older consumers prefer to invest into properties more than young people, however, it appears that forestry and groundwater investments are not popular neither for older consumers, nor for younger. Although liquidity might seem to be the reason most consumers do not invest into properties, the opposite is the truth. The time required for investing into properties together with risk related are the issues that distract consumers from choosing this kind of investment vehicle. After all, considering all the results in relationship with the theoretical findings three recommendations were formed in conclusion of the paper.
