Abstract
The aim of the thesis is to choose an investment option for a selected company by applying the methods of multi-criteria decision-making and net present value. Based on these methods and the net present value, the selection of the most suitable investment variant in the form of a forklift truck is realized. The diploma thesis consists of five chapters, including the introduction and conclusion. The second chapter is devoted to theoretical and methodological starting points, it describes the decision-making process, its structure and elements, methods of determining the weights of criteria, as well as methods of multi-criteria decision-making. Furthermore, investment decision-making in companies and investment evaluation methods are defined here, as well as net present value, profitability index and internal rate of return. The third chapter presents the selected company, its economic activity and development in the monitored period, its product portfolio and its competitive environment. At the end of this chapter, there is a brief description of the company's investment activity and also a definition of the current investment together with the established evaluation criteria. In the last, practical chapter, selected variants of decision-making are shown with specific values of individual criteria. The TOPSIS method and the method of linear partial utility functions are used for the multi-criteria evaluation of the variants, and then the net present value of the selected variants is calculated. At the end of this chapter, the results of the applied methods are compared and the most suitable variant of the forklift truck is selected according to the established requirements of the company.
