Abstract
VELIČKOVÁ, E.: Explosiveness of powder coatings in paint booths, VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering, Ostrava: Department of Occupational Safety and Processes, 2016. 91 pp. Dissertation thesis.
This dissertation thesis deals with the issue of explosiveness of powder coatings in paint booths. The work consists of the theoretical and the experimental part. The starting point of the dissertation thesis is the current European legislation, which was also implemented into the Czech legislation. Two important points can be drawn from it, namely, that the employer's duty is to perform a risk analysis and that on the premises of powder paint shops fire-technical characteristics must be available, because the powder coating is an activity with increased fire risk. It was then examined whether these fire-technical characteristics are available in the individual workshops. To evaluate the situation, a detailed inventory was carried out, and it was found that the values of fire-technical characteristics available for the operators are often different from the values stated in the professional resources. Therefore, fire-technical characteristics were determined experimentally for the widest spectrum of colour samples with different properties, chemical composition and grain size. The measurement results are an important basis for determining the proper security measures. Processing the methodology for determining risks in paint booths was also based on these results. In order to meet all legal requirements, the methodology complies with all the applicable standards referred to by both the Czech and European legislation. This methodology is supplemented with a computer program for the unambiguous identification of all risks which may occur in paint booths. Besides determining the risk, a proposal to eliminate the given risk is made at the same time. This methodology, along with the developed software, is an effective tool for risk management both at the production, operation, and possibly control level.
