Abstract
In the operation of battery systems, particularly in the context of electromobility and renewable energy sources, uneven wear of series-connected cells is often a limiting factor. Therefore, there is a constant effort to innovate battery management systems (BMS) and develop diagnostic units that provide accurate monitoring. The use of open, freely configurable platforms is one way to achieve the desired improvements. The goal of this work was to develop a diagnostic unit suitable for monitoring the condition of battery cells, with features that enable independent data visualization and analysis. A diagnostic system was developed using the LTC6804 module and the WeMos D1 R32 (ESP32) microcontroller. The unit enables the monitoring of voltage, current, and temperature in series-connected cells. The resulting system consists of a diagnostic unit and a host system for data visualization. The proposed diagnostic system is fully suitable for basic battery cell diagnostics and provides the user with a simple and easily accessible overview of the recorded parameters.
