Abstract

This thesis examines the influence of education on the economic level. The aim is to determine possible influence of education to their economic level in the Mercosur countries. Human capital is measured through various indicators, which are provided in empirical studies of economists, who have dealt with effects of human capital. The most commonly used indicators measuring human capital is the count of years of school attendance and the highest educational attainment. Correlation analysis expressed the interdependence of selected indicators measuring human capital and economic level. Interdependence between the medium length of educational and GDP per capita reaches high value of Pearson correlation coefficient, suggesting a high direct linear dependence. In these countries primary education plays a far greater role over higher education because these countries have low levels education.
