Abstract

This work discusses the wage differences between men and women in the countries of the European Union. The aim is to confirm or disprove the existence of wage differences in the EU countries, and to identify their causes. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is dedicated to the explanation of terms relating to human capital, its concept, factors that effect it and investment in human capital. Subsequently, it explains the basic concepts of salary, the principle of equal wages for equal work and wage differences. The practical part is focused on the analysis of wage differences between men and women in the different countries of the European Union. The analysis is carried out on the basis of the descriptive and comparative analysis. The carried out analysis shows that pay differences exist in all the member countries of the European Union, and differ only in size and the cause of origin.
