Abstract

Diploma thesis „Czech Republic on its Way to a Single European Cuurency“ focuses on the integration proces of the Czech republic into the eurozone. Adoption of a common currency for each economy will be a turning point moment, and so will it be for the Czech economy. It also entails changes, that will affect all sectors of the economy, financial markets, export and in significant way each citizen. When Czech Republic entered European Union, it had committed itself to accept Euro as its currency. The aim of thesis is to analyze and evaluate the state of preparations by our republic to adopt the euro. The goal of this work is to assess potencial introduction of euro in the Czech republic on the basis of nominal and real convergence. The emphasis is especially put on fullfilling of the Maastricht criterions. Consideration is given to the history of the development of the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), the adoption proces, the selection of adoption scenarios, advantages and disadvanteges of euro adoption, and in particular it contemplates when the most suitable time for euro adoption might be. To adopt a common currency it is also required to undergo a lot of limitations to give up some powers and fulfill many tasks.The thesis also contains experiences with euro of other countries. At the end is to indicate, the Czech Republic is ready to adopt the euro and conclusion recommendation that i fit should be a single currency for now hurry.
