Structural, optic and magnetooptic properties of epitaxial thin film ferrites

Abstract

The goal of thesis is preparation of epitaxial thin films of ferrites, and their subsequent structural and optical characterization. The ferrites films (e.g. magnetite (Fe3O4), nickel-ferrite (NiFe2O3) and cobalt-ferrite (CoFe2O3) will be deposited on monocrystalline substrates MgO or SrTiO3 ) using reactive molecular beam epitaxy. The film structure will be determined using XRD and LEED. Optic and magnetooptic properties will be spectroscopically characterized by ellipsometry and magnetooptic spectroscopy, allowing to determine spectra of permittivity tensor of those materials.
