Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the production of green hydrogen using a photovoltaic power plant and its subsequent application in an industrial facility. The theoretical section summarizes the principles of photovoltaics, the properties of hydrogen, hydrogen technologies, and the related legislative and regulatory requirements. The practical section focuses on the design of a photovoltaic power plant and the related hydrogen infrastructure, including the sizing of the key system components. The produced hydrogen is considered for powering fuel-cell forklift trucks. The design also includes the determination of the annual balance of hydrogen production and consumption, as well as the definition of a suitable operating mode of the system. The final part presents an economic evaluation of the proposed solution. The results show that, under the assumed conditions, the investment is not economically viable. However, the project economics could be improved through a reduction in the number of forklift trucks, an increase in electricity and diesel prices, or the acquisition of subsidy support. The implementation of the system may also be supported by its significant environmental benefits.
