Abstract

This bachelor thesis „Wage Inequality in the Czech Republic“ provides an overview, description and analysis of factors, which can affect wage inequality. The first part is dedicated to summary of theoretical and empirical literature related to wage inequality. Emphasis is placed on description of the determinants of wage inequality. The following section focuses on ways of measuring inequality and development of wage inequality in the Czech Republic over time. The last part is devoted to detailed description of wage inequality in the Czech Republic in year 2013. In this section I construct, among others, Lorenz curves and provide a comparison of income inequality across different groups of population. In conclusion, the situation in the Czech Republic is compared with the situation in the Slovak Republic and other developed countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
