Abstract

Themotivation of this thesis is solving acoustic problems in two dimensional unbounded acoustic domain. We will derive Helmholtz equation which describes wave propagation in space. We will use the Finite element method for solving acoustic problems. In this thesis, we will show how to compute stiffness and mass matrices. We will show construction of Perfectly matched layer which replaces boundary condition for unbounded domains. At the conclusion we will illustrate the Finite element method on examples.
