Abstract
This thesis is focused on characterization of materials in plasmonic structure using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in the Kretschmann configuration. Part of this work deals with elipsometric measurements, which are used to determine optical characteristics of individual layers of the plasmonic structure. Based on these optical characteristics a theoretical model is build, followed by simulations using a finite element method (FEM) in software COMSOL Multiphysics. In this work, the spectral phase shift and spectral dependence of the reflectance ratio are measured for various angles of incidence for analytes air/water. Experimental results are afterwards compared with theoretical model. Based on these results, which are in good agreement with theory, usage of this method of characterization for measurement of disperision properties of analytes is further discussed.
