Abstract
This thesis is focused on lighting of conflict areas on roads. Especially it is aimed at lighting of the most dangerous conflict area – the pedestrian crossing. At a pedestrian crossing there is the crossing of traffic routes and pedestrians, who are easily vulnerable during a possibly crash. A lighting area must be thoroughly explored because of appropriate lighting of conflict area. The thesis is aimed at this investigation.
The thesis describes investigation results of accident rate at illuminated pedestrian crossings from the several aspects. The thesis is dedicated to the safety of pedestrians on roads in terms of reflectivity their clothing, the thesis presents the methodology for designing of lighting system of pedestrian crossings, then it identifies possible mistakes during design and realization of lighting systems at pedestrian crossings, it also validates the described methodology on real cases.
The described assumptions of methodology for lighting are subjected to statistical verification of described hypotheses. The hypotheses are subjected to evaluation in terms of statistical and practical.
The lighting system of conflict area forms the significant part of energy network load. That is the reason why the recommendations how to reduce energy demands of this type of lighting are described.
