Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the development of method of sampling very thin layer from the surface material by abrasion on abrasive target. Material captured on target is than analyzed by X – ray fluorescency spectrometry. Method was applied for analysis of friction layer on surface brake lining, which is created by friction effect during braking process. Analysis abrasion of 11 commercially available brake lining of known chemical composition were constructed calibration curve for determination of Fe, Cu, Zn, S, Cr, Ti, Sb and Ba. Then was analyzed friction layer created on surface these lining after testing on brake dynamometer. By comparing results of analyzes of original material and friction layer was discovered significant increase of iron content as result of friction process. Zn and Cr contents is practically unchanged, contents of other specified elements moderately decreased. Sampling method thin layer of captured by friction on abrasive target is suitable for qualitative and semiquantitative elemental analysis.
