Abstract

This thesis analyzes effects of newly opened segment of the Prague Ring way. Impacts on environment, population and traffic in Prague are examined, including economical aspects. In the first part is introduced state of traffic in the city and its impacts. Next chapter describes development of motor traffic in Prague and history of the ring way. Third chapter summarizes impacts on environment and population of the city. Changes in production of carbon dioxide and harmful substances, produced by combustion engines, are calculated. Next part deals with impacts on traffic. Changes in traffic flow, benefits and negative aspects are summarized. The fifth chapter focuses on economical aspects of the ring way, describing changes in accident rate, fuel consumption and cost of time, spent on the road. Last chapter summarize benefits and negative aspects and introduces further steps.
