Abstract

The aim of the master's thesis is to evaluate the competitiveness of the selected railway carrier and make proposals and recommendations, which can help the carrirer maintain or improve its current position in relation to competitors in the market of rail passenger transport. Various methods or tools were used to assess competitiveness, such as PESTLE Analysis, Porter's Five Forces Model, Key Factor Analysis, financial analysis, Bonity index and IN05 Index, Spider Analysis, SWOT Analysis and marketing research. The theoretical part of the master's thesis defines the basic concepts, which include enterprise, business and entrepreneur, competition and competitiveness, competitive advantage or business environment. Furthermore, selected methods or tools are defined, which were subsequently applied in the practical part of the master's thesis. At the end of the thesis are summarized and interpreted the results and proposals for the analyzed carrier. The company is proposed to create a satisfaction survay with services, increase spending to the train mainteance, improving the condition of the rolling stock through the modernization or purchase of new trains and possible ways of financing. Other suggestions include an idea of possible solution to the risk of default or a sharp decline in sales. This solution is in the form of modyfying existing contracts. The latest recommendations and suggestions are made in the field of human resources and provided services.
