Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on identifying threats and opportunities in the field of water treatment and disinfection. Specifically, it focuses on a company under the fictitious name of Conor, which operates in Brno and provides water treatment technologies. The aim of the thesis is to identify opportunities and threats for this company. The first part of the thesis covers the methodology and theoretical background where key concepts and methods of strategic analysis such as PEST and SWOT analysis are explained. Next, the company's environment is described and the basic formulas of financial analysis are presented. In the practical part, a PEST analysis of Conor is conducted, which identifies the political, economic, social and technological factors affecting the firm's business. Subsequently, a financial analysis of the company is conducted, which shows the firm's stable financial health, including a low debt ratio and efficient use of assets. A SWOT analysis identifies the strengths and weaknesses of a company, as well as opportunities and threats. Strengths include the company's reputation, skilled management and modern equipment. Weaknesses include the difficulty in recruiting qualified technicians and limited opportunities for expansion. Threats include inflation, rising raw material and energy costs, and intense competition. Conversely, opportunities include the use of investment incentives and the ability to pull suppliers away from competitors due to better financial indicators. The paper concludes that Conor is in good financial shape and has the potential for further growth if it can respond effectively to the identified threats and take advantage of the opportunities in the market.
