Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the utilization of microalgae, especially Limnospira maxima, as a substrate for anaerobic digestion and its potential for biogas production. The main objective of the study was to assess the suitability of this biomass for monodigestion and co-digestion with maize silage. In the experimental part, a BMP test was performed using laboratory-cultivated microalgal biomass, and the biogas yield and its composition were determined. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that Limnospira maxima biomass represents a potentially suitable substrate for anaerobic digestion; however, its more effective application lies in co-digestion with other substrates. The theoretical part summarizes current knowledge on anaerobic digestion, its products, particularly biogas, co-digestion of substrates, and microalgae.
