Electric tram is a vehicle, nowadays equipped with the facilities ensuring comfortable and safe operation.
One of the preconditions for safe operation is the compliance with the relevant standards and tests of determined technical equipment (in Czech abbreviated as UTZ).
The aim of this paper is to acquaint readers with the basic issues of selected basic tests according to European and national standards that are required for preparation of streetcars for technical and safety testing (Czech abbreviation TBZ).
The work consists of two parts.
In the first part I describe the theoretical analysis of the production of electrical trams, devices used for routine tests, general test requirements, safety, and methodology of individual dielectric tests.
In the second part I assess the capacities of selected electrical equipments at examinations.
