Abstract
The diploma thesis is dealing with the remote sensing in the detection of hydrocarbons in the soils. In the first part the theoretical background of the hydrocarbons and theirs effects in the nature, remote sensing methods and technologies using in the detection of onshore hydrocarbons is described. Following part shows the summary of selected algorithms applied on the remote sensing data to detect the hydrocarbons. Selection of proper testing areas (Kuwait – oil depostis, California- area with known hydrocarbon seepage) and choosing of right satelite data (sensors Hyperion, ASTER) is followed by verification of applied methods in practical part of the work. In the end of the thesis the evaluation of the thesis objectives, results and the proposal of other application of created methodology is discussed.
