Abstract
In the scope of this diploma thesis there was prepared a set of Co-Mn-Al mixed oxides
(molar ratio Co:Mn:Al = 4:1:1), modified by various quantity of sodium and cesium, by
impregnation method. Samples were characterized by chemical analysis, physical
adsorption of nitrogen, ray powder diffraction, electron scanning microscopy, temperatureprogrammed
reduction by hydrogen and were also tested for catalytic decomposition of
nitrous oxide. There were made measurements of temperature dependence on N2O
conversion in the temperature range 270-450°C in inert gas and further there was examined
the influence of oxygen, water vapour and nitric oxide in the feed on conversion of nitrous
oxide. The measurements confirmed the inhibition of oxygen, water vapour and nitric
oxide on the reaction rate of N2O decomposition. It was discovered that a higher
conversion of N2O was reached in the presence of catalysts modified by Cs. Further there
was observed the influence of calcination temperature and type of salt (CsNO3, Cs2CO3)
used in impregnation of Co-Mn-Al mixed oxide. It was discovered that the calcination
temperature doesn’t have a significant influence on obtained conversion of N2O. Higher
conversion of N2O presence of oxygen, water vapor and nitric oxide was achieved by the
Co-Mn-Al mixed oxide impregnated Cs2CO3 solution.
