Abstract

This bachelor thesis is focused on the possibilities of using and recycling of discarded cartridges. The demand for printing equipment and refills has increased in the last few years. In connection with increasing demand, there is lot of electronical waste including used print cartridges. The thesis also contains a summary of the possibilities of processing the discarded printing cartridges and the possiblities of usage of the individual components from which they are composed. Practical part of the thesis includes materials analysis of chosen refills for laser and ink printers, which aims to demonstrate the large number of componentns and different types of materials. The recycling of discarded cartridges is on a very low level, despite the fact that e-waste is a valuable source of secondary materials.
