Abstract
This thesis deals with the issue of locating the location of the fault on the power lines of the transmission system. In the first chapter of this work, the electrification system of the Czech Republic is described together with the transmission system, the distribution system and their operators. Furthermore, the European Association of Transmission System Operators is also mentioned in the first chapter. In the second chapter, the different types of protections that are used to protect the power lines in the transmission system are presented and the concept and systems of protection of the transmission system lines together with fault recorders and fault records are also discussed. Fault records are written by fault recorders, which create a record in the COMTRADE format, which is described in the third chapter of this thesis. In the fourth chapter, one-ended methods of calculating the distance of a fault are described, as well as two-ended methods of calculating the distance of a fault. With these methods, the specific case of a fault on the V403 line is calculated in the fifth chapter. In the sixth chapter, the results of these methods of calculating the fault distance are commented on.
