Abstract

Intermetallic compound Ni3Al is interesting material used for production of components which are exposed to severe conditions, like corrosive environment or high temperatures, due to its mechanical properties and quite good corrosion resistance. Especially at higher temperatures it is characterized by high strength and creep resistance. General characteristics of intermetallic compounds together with explanation what these compounds are and specific examples of intermetallics too are contained in theoretical section of this work. Here is also described characteristic and possibilities of alloying intermetallic Ni3Al. Experimental part of this bachelor’s thesis is focused primarily on intermetallic Ni3Al, on its corrosive behavior in air atmosphere and molten salts mixture Na2SO4+NaCl, which may occur in ash or sediments. This can imitate of salts action generated during combustion of fuels containing sulfur and chlorides. This information is included in experimental section where corrosion time dependences of intermetallic Ni3Al have been reported.
